Yesterday I found a link to the satillies on a forum I was visiting, so I have been watching Gustav since late yesterday afternoon. This puppy is moving more west than North and this morning the eye area, such as it is is well past New Orleans and Anderson Cooper is not that uncomfortable in New Orleans this morning.
This is a heavy tropical storm, or maybe a Cat 1, but it was no Cat 3, it didn't have enough eye etc. They admit it being a cat 2 at this time. A lot of the periphery was already onland yesterday, and the center continues to move west this morning. It's main effect may be over the gulf oil wells off Louisiana, and I hope dark side doesn't go blowing them up!!!!!! There is still yucky talk on CNN about how these levies, which are only experiencing a small 7 foot surge, might well break up to a day later! The goo and lies continue. Watch the game, and consider going back and reading the messages from Katrina and Rita, if you missed them.
I have had a gut feeling all along this hurricane was not going to hit New Orleans hard at all and would move west. Star fleet is having conferences this long weekend, perhaps an update in a few days.
