"Yesterday Lord Carey, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, demanded “air strikes and other British military assistance to create secure and safe enclaves” in Syria. This would mean bombing Syria and seizing its territory, which would be an aggressive attack on Syria and an act of war. Nonetheless, British officials rushed to support Lord Carey’s proposal.
“We’ve got to defeat these criminal gangs who trade in human misery and risk people’s lives and kill people. You’ve got to deal with the problem at the source, which is this evil Assad and the [Islamic State (IS) militia] terrorists,” declared UK Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne."
Here we have the official Church of England continuing in it's historic role.
When Africa was being raped by the European Imperialist powers the ideological crutch of bourgeois rule was guarenteed to be working hand-in-glove with those operating the machine guns as they civilised the natives.
What the Western imperialist nations like Britain, France, and above all America are doing against Syria is an example of a broader Machiavellian strategy that Dan Glazebrook has termed Divide and Ruin.
Divide and Ruin: The West's Imperial Strategy in an Age of Crisis
The Americans and Europeans arm, sponsor, and back jihadist terror groups ...sorry, moderate "pro-democracy" rebels to destabilize and destroy a given nation.
Then, in an example of their Orwellian arrogance, these same Euro-American imperial powers demand the right to bomb, invade, or militarily intervene in this targetted nation--ostensibily on humanitarian grounds to "save" the people of this nation that they themselves have destabilized!
In short, America and the West in general are arsonists masquerading as fireman.
They are truly sociopathic nations in their deception and war lust.
It's appalling and reprehensible, though predictable, that NATO/Western leaders would quickly attempt to distract and co-opt international outrage in response to the refugee crisis by simply redoubling their insistence that the Evil Dictators and/or various genocidal terrorist organizations and movements have, largely unilaterally, caused the destabilization and precipitated the mass exodus of oppressed peoples to EU countries.
This, in turn, neatly leads to the Western authorities' corollary proposal that the solution perforce lies in upping the military ante and finally accomplishing the therapeutic regime change they've been attempting for years.
The public relations experts and consent-manufacturers, including the governments' mass-media partners and enablers working for these governments, are presumably educated enough to understand the concept of "cause and effect", and further understand that it's commonplace for complacent or uninformed persons to confuse cause with effect.
The propagandists also rely on general ignorance of the "More of the Same Fallacy".
Here, the West's infoganda machine seeks to deliberately perpetuate nefarious policies by pretending that the problem of Western imperialist, expansionist aggression-- the cause of the crisis-- is actually the solution.
It remains to be seen if they can sell this latest load of offensive codswallop, since even the authoritarian-submissive reflex to irrationally believe and support political/military leaders eventually becomes extinct.
