THE GAME OF LIFE

The game of life is a deadly game
If played with sticks and stones.
The web you spin and the prize you win
May consume your flesh and bones.
The lust and greed never are appeased
When power soars out of sight.
The more you get, all the more you whet
Your ferocious appetite.
The game of life is an empty game
If played without a goal.
You strain your back and your brain you rack,
But not satisfy your soul.
The game of life is a lonely game
If played in solitaire.
You'll eat your cake, but your heart will ache
If you have no one to share.
The game of life is a painful game
If you are poor of health.
To run and play free of pain each day,
You would give up all your wealth.
The game of life need not be a game
Of fear and hate and pain,
Nor one of stress, nor loneliness
That can drive a soul insane.
The game of life can have rich rewards
When played with love and peace.
When you invest, give your very best,
And your profits will increase.
Live your own life filled with pride and joy,
Help others do the same.
To self be kind, strive for peace of mind,
And you'll surely win the game.
