WEB OF DECEIT

By Nawlene

She was a cold-hearted woman addicted to money.

He was painfully simple just looking for a Honey.

When she found his profile in a personal ad

He'd been alone way too long and was terribly sad.

He was lonely, downtrodden, and wanted a companion,

Someone he could care for, who also liked camping.

He longed for a sweetheart he could share all his dreams,

But instead, he found one who was planning a scheme.

His fingernails were stained with oil and dirt.

He had spent his whole life doing arduous work.

Loved by everyone for being honest and gentle,

He had no agenda, degrees, or credentials.

They met in a restaurant for their first lunch date meeting

And I watched from a distance and saw they weren’t eating.

She did all the talking as he gazed in her eyes,

Then she spun him a web of incredible lies.

Plastered with makeup, she was dressed to the hilt.

Even the flowers on the table were beginning to wilt.

She loves clothing, new cars and big diamond rings.

She’s on the prowl for a man who can give her these things.

She knew what to say to get into his heart!

She was intentionally planning to rip him apart.

Just like a black widow with a poisonous bite

That poor man was too smitten to put up a fight

People thought they made an unusual pair

When he married the woman with flaming red hair.

They both seemed quite happy for the first year or two

But soon the meaning had faded from those two words, “I DO.”

Then out of the blue he suffered a stroke

She was determined that she would never go broke.

So she refinanced his house and added her name

With a calculator in hand she figured her gain.

For months she’d been planning and plotting her course

Then she secretly filed for a quickie divorce.

Her scheming paid off and she took everything

From his lifelong savings to that big diamond ring.

She was careful to sign a quitclaim deed to him

For the inflated mortgage of the home he lives in.

She cleaned out accounts that he didn't know existed

He was incoherent so he never resisted.

The judge hammered his gavel and said, "it is finished"

For the defendant had not appeared (cause his mind was diminished.)

Not a question was asked by the judge to that wench

He gave it all to her and stepped away from his bench.

That cunning woman figured a way

To fool everyone to this very day!

She left him believing that she would be back

To keep him from filing a counter attack.

Now she has a new car and her bills are all paid

A down payment on her new house has already been made.

She wasted no time setting up her new life…

Now her ad reads, “I am single and I’d make a good wife….”

Note by Candace: Nawlene has a wonderful talent for putting the difficulties of life into story poetry form. This is a true story that occurred within her personal circle and which caused a great deal of pain for all concerned.

Life deals us all some hard blows, and one of the teachings missing in religion, is of course re incarnation and that life is for learning about the business of living.

Nawlene provided the name for this particular goal of AbundantHope, "Changing the Face of Religion."
