Sky News host Rita Panahi says "speaking out comes at a cost when the bulk of the media doesn't like what you're saying".
Ms Panahi said "it takes great courage to speak your mind in 2019" namely when "challenging the trans agenda or other issues where groupthink has taken hold".
"You'd be hard-pressed to find someone whose belief system, including attitude to gay marriage, is more at odds with mine than Margaret Court's," she said.
"After all, she's a devout woman with traditional, religiously-mandated views while I'm an atheist, single mum who couldn't give a stuff who marries who.
"But though I disagree with her I will vehemently defend her right to speak her mind without being punished."
Ms Panahi noted "in the age of online mobs and 'cancel culture', individuals can pay a heavy price for stating uncomfortable truths or opinions even when those opinions are mainstream".
"Last week, we learned the spokeswoman for Doula UK was hounded out of her role because of a Facebook post in which she said only women can give birth," she said.
"We live in strange times when stating an unequivocal truth results in you being labelled a bigot."
