The Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry in Thailand set up an investigation into the alleged rabies vaccines being substandard, and they were purchased for 25 years!
Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang "assured that the BMA's rabies vaccines are standard and are procured from a supplier certified by the Food and Drug Administration." How naïve to rely upon the Food and Drug Administration's recommendations, especially if they come from the USA FDA!

Back in May of 2010, another Chinese vaccine maker, Simcere, was fined $3.7 million for substandard vaccines.
As a result, members of Jiangsu Yanshen's management team and employees who were directly involved in the production of the substandard vaccine will be prohibited from engaging in the production and marketing of pharmaceutical products for a period of 10 years, according to a Simcere statement. In addition, a criminal investigation is under way.
In late May of 2010, a human rabies vaccine maker, Wuhan Institute of Biological Products in central China, voluntarily recalled its vaccine. The batch number was 200905007-3, and involved 10,902 doses, of which 8,376 had been used. That vaccine was found to contain an excessive amount of the bacteria endotoxin, which causes fever.

In February of 2009, the Xinhua News Agency reported more than 320,000 doses of flawed rabies vaccines were recalled for human use; 323,200 had been recovered by the manufacturer, Dalian Jingang-Andi Bio-products Co. Ltd. in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
The National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products (NICPBP) found in a test that 360 200 doses of the company's vaccines contained nucleic acid, which was not supposed to be added until its safety had been proven. Nucleic acid acts as an adjuvant, or a substance used to enhance the effectiveness of anti-viral drugs. [CJF emphasis]
In September of 2010, "eight people have been arrested in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for producing or selling fake rabies vaccinations which caused the death of a child and threatened more than 1,000 others," according to local drug authorities.
"They will be prosecuted for the fake rabies vaccines in Laibin City," according to Guangxi's regional drug administration.
According to reports, those fake rabies shots were found in 13 village hospitals and in 20 privately-run clinics in Xinbin District, Laibin City. Apparently those ‘vaccines' were produced by an underground workshop and sold for about 330,000 Chinese yuan or U.S. $438,530.
It seems rabies is a serious health problem both in China and India. It is estimated around two thousand people in China die a year from contracting rabies. Something to keep in mind, if one is entertaining visiting either China or India.
By the way, have you heard or read about the above vaccine scandals before?
